Grad School w00t!
May. 5th, 2009 11:05 pmOkay, I need to start by saying that I'm not usually a last-minute sort of person when it comes to papers. I like to the research when time is readily available and I like have my first draft written the weekend before they are do.
That being said, I found time slipping away from me this semester as these final weeks have hurdled towards me. Last week, I had two papers due and this week, I had two papers due. However, over the weekend, I found myself relaxing and letting myself destress by snuggling into the warm arms of Nick who had come to visit me.
On Sunday, I was able to write one of my papers.
On Monday, I didn't feel any motivation at all.
And today, I sat down and found myself writing nine pages (requirement was 8-10) of a paper that radiates with so much passion and determination that I can feel my personality oozing from the margins. It was an intense experience but I feel this unexpected surge of accomplishment for being able to complete my task and I'm really satisfied with how it turned out. The last minute piece of this and the full point of this blog is that the paper I wrote today is due tomorrow at 5:30 pm. But the important thing now is that I'm done with papers :)
The only class requirement that I have left to fill is a 7-8 minute presentation on the paper I just finished.
And then I'm free for six whole weeks!

on 2009-05-06 04:20 am (UTC)It's great you were able to put so much of yourself into the paper. When I'm last minute I tend to be rather meh about the final result, so you should definitely be proud. And good luck with the presentation. :)

on 2009-05-06 06:04 pm (UTC)I seem to have the lovely unhealthy pattern of leaving everything until the extreme last minute, realising its the extreme last minute, freaking out and working on it constantly with no breaks until its handed in with one minute to spare. :P M'speshul.
