My thoughts of What Worked and What Didn't are lurking under the cut.

What Worked

+ The return of Ranjit! It was so great to see everybody's favorite taxi cab/limo driver again, and even better to see what his wife really looks like.

+ Barney and Robin eating tacos by the subway station before coming to Marshall and Lily's

+ The gag where Robin "shot" herself in the head and Barney wiped the blood off

+ Lobster ravioli!! (Total shout-out to the HIMYM RPG and Claudia's cooking/Brad's order at the restaurant)

+ Jason Segel getting to sing crazy songs and the photo montages that went with them. http://www.itwasthebestnightever.com/ (Made me LOL quite a few times)

+ Ted in tweed. Because it reminded me of Giles in tweed. And Giles...was hot!

+ Barney in Armani sweatpants.

+ The Ted and Barney poems were made of win. I want copies of those.

+ The Barney/Robin/Marshall/Lily moment in the rain (and the egg timer set up that led up to it). Loved Lily's bad boy/bad girl remark.

What Was Tolerable

+ Marshall's obsession with gouda.

+ The Barney/Robin montage set to "All By Ourselves" (The hostess scoffing at them for wanting a table for two was kinda entertaining and it reminded me of Marshall getting scoffed at for wanting brunch for one back in S2

What Didn't

+ I was not thrilled at all with the way that Lily and Marshall continue to unfold as a married couple. I do think they are capable of couple's night, and they were the ones that broke up with the neighbor couple in the "Platinum Rule" who basically acted the same way they did tonight with the Charades and the Couple's Trips to Vermont.

+I give Alyson Hannigan and Jason Segel a lot of credit for playing the crap out of their characters...even when Aly has to play more of a shrew.

Overall, I'm going to give this one an obligatory grade of a B+

I thought Jason owned this episode. I actually really liked the gouda bit, and his photo montages & songs? Win.

I'm definitely with you on the way they're handling Marshal & Lily as a couple. We've seen them host a perfectly fine couple's night before so this was strange. They're so much better than being used for some gag.

Jason Segel is brilliant in everything he does.

And I'm in full belief that Marshall and Lily will get a storyline they deserve soon!

The obsession with gouda makes sense in a weird way. Marshall loves all things food. But you think he would be open to more cheese options. Extra-sharp cheddar is awesome, btw.

Hee! Extra-sharp cheddar is made of win

I'm also a sucker for Muenster and Gorgonzola

Totally agree about Marshall and Lily. Have they never met B&R?! I don't think they would have acted that over the top around them. It's weird.

But the ep had some great moments, as well, so... toss up for me.

Lobster ravioli! (h5)
