Title: When Sleep Escapes Her
Author: snogged
Disclaimer: Joss Whedon owns the characters from Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I don’t. Please don’t sue.
Rating/Warning: PG for romance/fluff and one mention of the word “breast”, set during season 4 before “Wild at Heart”
Pairing: Willow/Oz (Willow POV)
Word Count: 260
Summary: Willow can’t fall asleep and Oz is in LA doing a band gig.
Beta: None. Please let me know if you spot spelling and/or grammar errors.
A/N: So, it’s 1:30 in the morning and I can’t fall asleep and my boyfriend doesn't seem to be answering his phone (likely because he's sleeping right now). I really hate the fact that Nick and I only get to see each other on the weekends. It makes the first night alone really difficult. I find it interesting that my mind and muse chose to go to Willow/Oz- considering the sense I was getting that I couldn’t properly write this couple. Anyways, enough babbling from me. This is dedicated with love to
rileysaplank.

The bed’s too big and there’s too much space and no matter how far she spreads her legs and arms, she just can’t fill it up.
But Oz knows just how to fill it up. That’s why there’s an Oz-shaped dent on that side of the bed. But Oz isn’t here, isn’t lying beside her, and it makes her whole body ache with longing.
The little, red numbers on her digital clock blink beside her and she closes her eyes, furiously wishing that this simple act would send her swirling into slumber. But the crucial pieces of his body locked against hers, his arm around her waist, his hand nestling against the underside of her breast are missing.
She wonders if he’s suffering a similar fate in some cheap hotel room in LA. And if she could read his mind, she guesses that he is missing the soft feel of her skin under his fingers, the Zen of their physical contact.
She picks her cell phone off the night stand and dials the number by heart. Each moment the dial tone rings makes her heart beat a little faster but then he answers and suddenly, everything just slows to a stop.
There’s a love in his voice that soothes her, and it doesn’t take long for the drowsiness to settle in under his promises of meeting her on the dreamscape. His voice grows fainter as her head touches the pillow and she inhales the faint scent of him on the pillow beside her.
The enemy has finally met its match.

on 2009-02-09 02:23 pm (UTC)You can write Willow/Oz. Never sell yourself short. You are way amazing and you have a brilliant mind. This is so beautiful and touching. It is very true to the characters.

on 2009-02-09 03:13 pm (UTC)Like I told Gabrielle: Ever so often, I can see parallels between my relationship with Nick and Willow's relationship with Oz.
This seemed like one of them.
So thanks.
