Nervous about my Gmail

I seem to be unable to access my Gmail account at the moment.

They're saying I can give them my phone number and they'll send me a text with some security code but I don't feel comfortable doing that, especially because I don't know what's going on.

*is nervous*

I really hope I haven't suffered the wrath of some hacker.

ETA: After a google search and countessmary finding the link on account recovery, I got the text sent to me anyways. It appears that a bot tried to send out a bazillion emails but Google stopped it from happening. Of course, this means I'm the suspicious one despite that not being the case. But at least, I'm back in business and hopefully, this won't happen again.

I would google the message you've been given to see if it comes up as a hacking scam. You should have provided security questions when you signed up for your account and those should be used to have you re-sign in.

Okay...I think something had happened with my account. There was 100 emails that were listed as "Delivery Status Failure" after I googled and decided to have them text me the security code.

I had to reset my password, which kinda sucks, but at least it's working now.

That was part of the process of getting my access back.

g-mail woes

That happened to me, and here's what I did. When the trouble window came up, I finally said that I had forgotten my password. Not true, but I couldn't get on. That took me to a place to reset the password. I did it over to precisely the same password, and ta-daaaaaaaa -- all fixed. Couldn't hurt to try.

Well...I did what they wanted me to and it got fixed so hopefully it doesn't happen again.
