I just heard word that the Department of Vocational Rehab opened up a position and they asked me come in for an interview!
I can't even begin to describe how much this fills me with glee because not only is it a job in the field I got my Master's in, it's a state job with loads of nifty benefits. It's also the job I've been vying for ever since I found out it existed. If I get it, I'll be working with people who have disabilities and helping them find jobs and stuff. :)
I am a little frustrated that the interview process itself won't be starting until Sept. 10th, but I'm not going to let that get me down.
I'm still going to do the interview with Aprilaire tomorrow though. Might as well have a back-up plan, I say!
Moving on...to the Harry Potter Meme
02. Your favorite book
While they all have unique things about them that I absolutely adore, I think Order of the Phoenix is my favorite. I loved the introduction to Luna Lovegood, the creation of Dumbledore's Army, the battle at the Ministry of Magic, and the length of the thing (it's still the longest in the series)!
03. What house would you be in?
I think I'm nerdy and intelligent enough to be in Ravenclaw, but my affiliation has always been to the house of Slytherin. I've always seen more to that house than what we're given in the books (i.e. that they're all self-serving and evil.) I see a competitive spirit, passion for coming out on top, a fierce attitude, an ambitious drive, a love for snakes, and an awesome head of house. I know that, although I'm not a braggart, I do secretly get great pleasure out of getting the highest grade on a test or being the top student in a class. Yes, I'm not going to ignore the fact that there is a selfish aspect to the Slytherin house, but I won't hesitate to say that I've been there and done that.

on 2010-08-11 05:27 pm (UTC)I'd've been in Slytherin. I'm pretty much sure about it and I think that's cool. *g* I really liked the strength and passion of the house.

on 2010-08-11 06:57 pm (UTC)And I love your answer about Slytherin. It does seem a bit elementary of JKR sometimes that Slytherins aren't portrayed as more diverse. They wouldn't have a Slytherin house if they were all just evil pricks. ;)

on 2010-08-11 07:02 pm (UTC)And I'm glad you like my Slytherin answer. JKR's explanation never made complete sense to me.

on 2010-08-11 09:06 pm (UTC)And I liked your answer to the HP House questioin. It's hard for me, because in my actual schools we did get sorted into Houses! That actually happens in English schools! Although our houses had different names. In Junior school I was a Blue coloured scarf and tie and stuff (House Carnarvon, which I guess would be Ravenclaw), and then in senior school I was red (which I suppose makes me Griffyndor).

on 2010-08-11 09:50 pm (UTC)I liked your HP answers. I agree on favorite book but I have no idea what house I'd be in. It would probably be between the same two you mentioned but I couldn't really be sure. If forced to choose I would probably say Ravenclaw because I apply the scientific method to everything but writing.
Again good luck with your interviews... I hope it all works out the way you want it to.

on 2010-08-12 08:52 am (UTC)Hmmm I've been re reading the HP books and I just started OotP and the book still makes me extremely sad. Like you said I loved DA and Luna and the fact that it's HUGE but I just can't get over Sirius's death and every time he's in a scene or Mr Weasley is mean to him I just get depressed. :(
