16. How have you participated in the fandom over the years?
I've written some drabbles and some ficlets. I've participated in
malfoy_icontest and
draco_chorus when I've had the chance too.
My predominant role in the fandom, however, was my affiliation with the site: Plano Hogwarts. I signed up my junior year in college since several of my RL friends were talking about it one day. I was sorted into Slytherin, after completing the short answer format sign-up process. I was excited to be in Slytherin because that's where my friend, Naomi, was. I was also excited to sign up for classes. I believe I took Potions, Defense Against the Dark Arts, and Divination (which Naomi taught). It was great fun doing the homework assignments and learned about different things that the "professors" had added to their curriculum. I was top of my class in Potions (which was very chemistry/biology-based and quite difficult). In a few months, I was nominated to be Head Girl and I took on the role with pride.
I was active in the Dumbledore's Army RPG and wound up becoming the DA leader after Tiff (a Gryffindor and friend) became pregnant in RL and had to leave. At one point, the Headmistress decided to get rid of the Head Boy/Head Girl positions since there weren't enough people and I became Slytherin Prefect and eventually transcended to Head of House.
I can't say the experience was all fun and games. There were times when things got stressful. There were times when people hated me for various reasons that didn't make a whole lot of sense most of the time. There was drama and wank and stress and eventually, the primary players (myself included) left the site.
I'm still good friends with a few folks, but I'm glad to be free of it. The BtVS/AtS/HIMYM fandoms suit my personality far more.
