There's a mouse in one of my kitchen cupboards.

Cue panic attacks and girly screaming, followed by Nick laughing his ass off.

I'm not remotely afraid of mice and other small critters. But once I stuck my hand into the big plastic garbage bin we used to store dogfood, only to have a field mouse jump *into* that hand. I screamed.

Then I caught the poor little mousy (who'd got himself trapped among 60 lbs of kibble) and let him loose in the field across the street.

Would you like to come capture my mouse?

I'd be happy to. :-) My cat used to catch them and I'd have to capture them then, too. A really big plastic cup works well.

As we were setting the traps last night, I took your advice and stood at the ready with an ice cream pail.

Although we haven't checked the traps yet, the loud scratching noises have stopped.

Well, good luck with the mouse hunt! :-)

Eek! Are you going to get those sticky traps now?

I don't know if we're going to get the sticky ones. Nick says he knows some good ones where the mouse just climbs in and you don't have to see it die.

Eek! Hate those things!

Tell him to stop laughing at you and help you get it out of the house!

Don't worry. He stopped laughing eventually and we bought some traps last night.

Good. Cause that's not fair he's laughing at you while that thing's running around the house.

You usually take his side.
*pouts*

And I thought we were friends? :P

*snort* We are friends.....but I still think its funny when people freak out over mice. I wouldn't want one in my house & yes I would jump when I first see it, but I wouldn't do the girly scream & jump up on a chair....I'd be more apt to make sure everything breakable is out of the way cause Max would tear the house apart trying to get it :)

Glue traps!

I refuse to use glue traps.
I'd rather use the traditional kill ones. The mouse dies faster.

That's terrifying. Are you going to be able to get rid of it? *shudders*

I imagine we will.
We bought some traps last night and the creepy scratching noises have gone away.

I suggest poison. It works fast and you are more likely to get rid of the problem.

Or if you are squishy there are catch and release traps.

I've used both. It really depends on how caring about animals I'm feeling that day.

The problem I have with poison is that it doesn't take effect right away and increases the likelihood that you could have a mouse carcass rotting away somewhere.

We settled on straight kill traps.

Yeah there is that risk with poison... I never had that problem... I always found the bodies.

Straight kill traps make sense.

True story. I was sitting in the basement watching tv when a mouse ran over my foot. I screamed and jumped to the bed that was there. My Father came running down the stairs thinking I had killed myself or something. No.. I killed the mouse. By screaming. Death by scream!

Oo Oo me too!
One time, we'd had a long weekend at my grandma's house. We came back, and I really had to pee, so I immediately ran to the bathroom and there was a DEAD MOUSE FLOATING IN THE TOILET. I screamed, and commenced dancing around trying not to pee myself while mom flushed it. And then I was afraid to pee. Because I decided it had come up from the sewer, because we'd had the lid down.

Also, I screamed as recently as yesterday, when I failed to kill a fuzzy black spider.
