I know this might be seen by some as repetition, but I really can't give any other show the classification of "favorite" for this day, even though Veronica Mars tried really hard to convince me that it should be my pick for the day.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer

This show has been off the air since 2003 and I'm still obsessed with it. I re-watch episodes, I write fanfiction, I write personal experience stories, I read academic/scholarly texts, I squee over getting called cute by Adam Busch (the guy who played Warren and is still the only Buffy cast member I've ever met.)

And so it's with respect to it's art that I recognize the amazing women -in my opinion. You will notice some missing from this list. I chose not to include them- who've appeared on this show.

Buffy: The leader and Chosen One. She's not always my favorite character, but I do respect her bad-ass fighting skills and the message of empowerment she represents for girls and women.

Willow: Really don't have to repeat myself, but she's a witch and she's awesome.

Cordelia: She transformed from Bitch to Scooby during her time on the show and it broke my heart at the end of Season 3 when she held that prom dress in front of her that she couldn't afford. It really let me see the woman who continued her transformation on Angel

Anya: She's not afraid to speak her mind, no matter what happens to be on her mind.

Tara: It took me awhile to love her because I was still pretty bent out of shape about Oz leaving when she arrived on the scene, but once I did, I was head over heels.

Darla: The whore to Buffy's Madonna and yet so much more than that. She was darkness and sexuality and I'm glad they found a loophole to bring her back on Angel.

Drusilla: I just love her, dammit.

Faith: While I liked her more on Angel, I did like the contrast she presented on the show in terms of how Slayers are formed and created from their experience.

I think I'm going to save my conference update for tomorrow's entry as I'm a bit "brainified". For now, I'll say that it was an educational experience and it was worth it.
