Today's honor goes too:
Betty Suarez from Ugly Betty.
She started at Mode as the plucky, good-hearted assistant for a womanizing and slightly douche-y guy named Daniel. She went on to challenge Daniel's ways and built an admirable and sweet (mostly)platonic relationship with him that cycled around at the end of Season 4 when she became an editor-in-chief and he asked to become her assistant.
I liked that her attitude, determination, charm, and intelligence catapulted her to "stardom." I also liked that she wasn't skinny like a twig or pretty in the Hollywood-sense like her co-workers Wilhelmina and Amanda were considered. Despite this, she still had the most fiery romances on the show (though I'm sure her female lead status had a lot to do with this.)
Another great part about her arc was her relationship with her family. It had its ebbs and flows but at the end as it was in the beginning, they were there for her when she needed them.
