1) Watched the first season of The IT Crowd today and laughed my butt off. I can definitely see how people would compare this show to The Big Bang Theory as I see a bit of Howard in Roy, a bit of Raj in Moss, and a bit of Penny in Jen. I look forward to watching the rest of the seasons.

ETA: I'm not getting involved in the IT Crowd/Big Bang Theory rivalry. If you have issues with either, this is NOT the place to air those complaints.
Thank you.

2) Nick and I rented Catfish, which is a documentary that follows the internet relationship and subsequent offline introduction between a guy and a girl who's not quite what she seems. Far as I can tell, it's 100% true. For an arbitrary grade, though, I give it a B-.

3)

I was always taught not to talk to strangers by my parents, my teachers, and various after school specials.

But then I realized that logic is a little flawed because if you think about it...your friends were strangers before you started talking to them. I'm not trying to devalue the fact that some people are creepy and manipulative and awful, but at the same time, it stands to reason that a stranger could be just a friend you haven't met yet.

So with that I say: Howdy, Potential Friend!

I'm kind of obsessed with seeing Catfish, especially since it takes place right where I lived in Michigan. I'm taking care not to be spoiled till I can see it.

And I totally agree on the strangers biz!

You were the reason I wanted to see it so darn badly.
I got excited when I found it was rentable.

Hope you get to see it soon!

The boy and I saw it on iTunes last weekend but you could only buy it, not rent it. So I may just have to go out and actually rent it soon! Mostly just because I'm so darn curious... the trailer was CREEPY.

1): Even though some of my friends are pestering me to watch it, I've never seen "The IT Crowd" actually! How does it compare to TBBT? Better or worse?

2): Haven't seen "Catfish" either but I'd definitely like to check it out some time.

3): Very true. Through just the smallest conversations in the past, I've managed to meet and befriend some of the best people that I cannot live without now. And I suppose the reason I go on LJ is because I love getting to know people from all over the world better and, like you said, make potential friends.

So, howdy to you as well! I'd love to get to know you better! :)

1) Honestly...I can't really make that judgment. Both shows hold a geeky appeal for me and bring it out in their own unique ways. I will say that IT tends to focus more on computer humor while BBT tends to focus more of science/sci-fi nerd humor.

2) It's interesting.

3)And yes, I hope we get to know each other better as well!

IT Crowd is way older than BBT! I always thought BBT was a bit of a rip off. But the way I see it, IT Crowd is about how geeks actually feel they are. It's more authentic. It's certainly true about British geeks. Whereas BBT tends to find the humour in making fun of geeks from an outsider's (eg Penny's) view.

I love Richard Ayode who plays Moss. He was awesome in The Mighty Boosh as well.

You know, I get that there's some rivalry going on between these shows, but I'm not interested in getting involved with it.

Seriously.

Call me Switzerland.

Because I love them both on their own credentials.
