The executive director at the Pauquette Center was finally able to respond to me and while the news isn't totally gumdrops and flowers, it's also not an apocalypse.

I still have a job. I still don't have a start date.

Here's a brief outline of what I was told:
1) They're still trying to fill the occupational therapist position.

2) Although Elissa will be building on her outpatient practice, another therapist (Lee) will be stepping in to pick up the time.

3)There cannot be a definitive start date until the state delivers a certificate to them stating that the program is approved and credentialed.

4) After the certificate is received, they can start applying to third-party vendors/insurance companies for approval for funding.

From the way it sounds, he would love to give me a start date, but it's out of his hands as there are a lot of third parties holding the purse strings.

I also realize that it may sound weird, but even though things are still in a holding pattern, my mental health has improved knowing that this is what the BOSS knows and that he's on the fish hooks just like I am.

Well phew! That's at least SOME good news! But have they any idea of when you might start? I mean, you can't hang on for six months!

Given the limitations of finding paid work as a graduate who requires supervision...I absolutely am willing to hold on for six months if that's what it takes...though I'm hoping that things pay out by late March/early April.

I think I'm going to start looking into menial work though as I don't want to sign on to a job that I can't justify leaving right away.

I totally understand. Knowing what is going on is a big relief, isn't it. It isn't you, it's all the dancing around about setting up the money.

Good luck. Find things to do in the meantime if you can.

It's a huge relief!
I feel far less confused now, despite the fact that we're still in a holding pattern.

I'm not worried about finding stuff to do though. My old university is sponsoring a grief and counseling workshop in about two weeks so I'm going to attend that and I think I'm going to tag along when my dad goes to his Haunted House convention in St. Louis for a weekend.

I'm glad your mind is more at ease, even if the news wasn't quite what you wanted.

Agreed.
Thought I already suspected most of this.

I'm glad that you still have a job!!! That's great. It sucks that things with it are still up in the air, but at least you aren't the only one left hanging when it comes to this.

Hopefully everything will work out soon. *Fingers crossed*

I'm crossing my fingers too!
But at least I have a plan in the meanwhile. :D

Dealing with agencies is fun!! But it sounds like there's still plenty of room for optimism.

I am very glad to hear that after talking to the boss, you're feeling better about it all. I'm sorry though that it's taking so long to get it all sorted out. *hugs*

One of the flaws of getting involved with a program that doesn't exist yet, I suppose.:P But it's teaching me valuable life lessons so I'm gonna roll with it.

This is very good, and somewhat disappointing, news. I'm glad you still have the job, even if you still don't know when it'll start.

I feel a lot better than I did two weeks ago. That's for sure!

yeah... once we're all in the same boat knowing basically nothing... it's kind of comforting.

Aww! I love your angry!Quinn icon. She's so freaking adorable.

But yeah, being in the same boat as the employer is always a good thing.
