Wis. Assembly passes bill taking away union rights

Debate had gone on for 60 hours and 15 Democrats were still waiting to speak when the vote started around 1 a.m. Friday. Speaker Pro Tem Bill Kramer, R-Waukesha, opened the roll and closed it within seconds.

Democrats looked around, bewildered. Only 13 of the 38 Democratic members managed to vote in time.

Fuckers!!!

I hope the Wisconsin Senators never come back.

It is.

At least...the Senate can't vote on it yet so it's not solidly law.

...my god. That's horrible that they passed that bloody thing. :(

I've always been taught that unions were good - mainly because my mom worked in a meat processing plant and the union is the only way they can get their voices heard. My brother on the other hand is of a different mindset (mainly the business side of anti-union).

Unions are good!
And busting them doesn't fix the economic crisis.

*hugs*

At least with the 14 senators out of state, it can't pass through the Senate yet.

UGH what children! This is so disgusting. I hope the senators can prevent this from happening for as long as possible. Hopefully people will see reason. D:

I completely agree.

I sent another letter to my Senator today. He may be Republican, but I hope he can act with more integrity than his constituents.

Awesome. It definitely matters that you and other people are actually expressing your opinions to your representatives. Hopefully they will listen!

This is just about the most undemocratic thing I've ever heard.

And it's another reason why I will never associate myself with a conservative party.

It may be legal.
But it leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

I hope to heck that even if this particular battle is lost, it wakes people up enough that come the 2012 elections they'll throw the bums out. :P

There are already calls out to recall about six senators and Walker can be recalled in January of 2012.

That has to be illegal, doesn't it? It's an abuse of power and just all manner of wrong. Obama or the courts or whoever has the power to fix this better be steppin' in and makin' it right.

Democrats in the assembly are currently trying to argue that procedures weren't followed correctly.

Don't know if they'll succeed or not.
