(Last Night)
Nick: So what are your plans for tomorrow?
Me: Gonna pick up the house a little.
Nick: Good luck! It's kinda heavy.

In other news, I feel its time to reveal something positive that's come out of my continuing job drama. A few weeks ago I put my tail between my legs and contacted Wendy at the Wisconsin Early Autism Project.

I had interviewed with them back in December and although I liked the concept of the work, they couldn't offer me supervised hours towards my license and their corporate office was 60 minutes from my house. At the time, I was also waiting to hear back from the Pauquette Center (whom, as you know, could pretty much offer me everything I wanted. Hence why I've sucked it up and kept my foot in their door these last four months, despite all the waiting, the paperwork, then budget bill, etc.)

But back to the present, I contacted Wendy and she told me that they had a line therapist position available at a home about 20 minutes away from me. Basically, I'll be working with a senior therapist to provide in-home therapy to an autistic child.

It's not much in terms of hours. Right now, it's 5 1/2 hours per week (two hours on Tuesdays, three-and-a-half hours on Saturdays). The pay is $10.61/hour, plus $3.00/hour for travel time. But the important thing is that it's related to my field, it will give me experience, it will keep me semi-sane while the wait continues, and it will be something I can continue to do once the wait for the Pauquette Center is over.

Not only that but I received my paperwork in the mail yesterday.

This is the real deal, lovelies. :)

YAY for work in your field! It should help keep you going while you wait! And it sounds rewarding. I'm sure you'll really like it.

I'm sure I'll like it too.

One of the pieces of my work at Pauquette (once that starts) will be working with children. As of now, I have no experience with that age group so working with a 6 year old is definitely going to help me out.

That is fantastic! I'm so excited that you're going to be able to do some work in your field while waiting for the job at Pauquette to start. (I read that situation correctly, didn't I?)

Yep. You read that right.
And actually, I should be able to keep working with the child after the Pauquette Center starts too.

I just wish the pay was better and/or I had more hours.

But I'm sure I can find a way to adjust for that.

That is way hey shiny! Hopefully it will be a good experience for you. You'll definitely have a diverse portfolio once Pauquette gets going.

I've been keeping my tabs open for days at a time before commenting. Is anyone surprised?

I just want to say that I'm glad that you're doing this and getting some time doing work in your field and even getting paid for it! I can see this being a really good experience for you.

And that fella of yours is pretty funny. :)

Apologies for the late comment coz I feel like I haven't been on LJ in forever, but congrats! The hours of work can be improved but the important thing is that you're getting experience, and be occupied while waiting to start working at the Pauquette Centre.

I look forwards to lots of updates!

I'm sure there will be plenty. Or at least, I'll share what I can without breaking confidentiality.
