I just got a notification from the mods at LJ that they will be adding two weeks of paid time to my account because of the recent DDOS attacks.
I am positively grateful to them for doing this.

Do you remember a few weeks back when LJ was down for hours and hours at a time?
That was because of a hacker group. A DDOS attack means there was a distributed denial of service hence why there was no LJ.
