11 – Genre – Do you prefer certain genres of fic when you're writing? What kind do you tend to write most?

I don't necessarily aim to shoehorn any of my stories into any one genre, though I generally favor angst, drama, and PWP. I can easily say I blame that preference on a few things. One, I don't think I'm all that funny when it comes to the written word so that puts comedy in a tough spot. Two, while I appreciate love and romance, I don't want to write stories that will be written off by readers as Harlequin. Three, I like the mood/atmosphere created by angst/drama. I like being able to make the characters hurt and cry and feel something that the show writers don't always portray (*coughcough* How I Met Your Mother *coughcough*). I've also been getting into writing fight scenes and those don't generally fly with fluff.

More meme tomorrow.

I'm off to read more of my book: Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher.

I know what you mean. It's exciting as a writer to be able to make people feel strongly.

Don't worry, I'll never confuse you with Barbara Cartland.

I completely agree. I love angst, drama, feelings, and everything TV shows don't show. You're also spot on about HIMYM, especially with Robin! I do think they're able to showcase feelings well, like with Barney in (do I say "this season" or "last season"?) ...Season 6. I just hope we get more feelings and backstory on Robin in Season 7!
