Robin Gets Knocked Up Part II
Read Part I Here
“You Canadians are such bad liars. There’s no way I could be the father,” Barney scoffed. “Besides, I don’t have a father gene. My genes are way too awesome for that. You must have been implanted by some other moron.”
Robin rolled her eyes. It was just like him to brush off something this serious. “You’re the only one I’ve slept with in months. And despite Marshall’s plea that they exist, I’m pretty sure aliens didn’t come impregnate me either.”
Barney’s jaw dropped. “You told Marshall already? Before me? Way to break the Bro code, Scherbatzky.”
“No, I haven’t told Marshall yet or Lily. You know those two can’t keep their mouths shut. And another thing, there is nothing in the Code about getting a bro pregnant,” Robin said, gritting her teeth and seriously considering slapping him across the face. “Why can’t you just take responsibility for this?”
“Because it goes against everything I stand for.” Barney shook his head. “Don’t get me wrong, I love my nephew but fatherhood’s not my thing. Weighs you down like a ship’s anchor. Makes you old and wrinkly. And even though I could probably still bag a hot chick, old is not a good look for me.”
Robin grabbed him by the arm and took a small step towards him. “I don’t think I’m cut out to be a mom either but this is real, this is happening. And as much as I hate kids, I’m pretty sure that I can’t give this thing inside me up. So I need you in this with me.”
Barney took a deep breath and focused on the softness in Robin’s eyes. He was nothing like Ted. Ted would know exactly how to handle this. Ted would make the perfect dad. But if this was what Robin wanted, Barney was going to step up to the plate and be awesome for her. And he would bet money that he would make fatherhood so much more awesome then Ted ever could.
“Our kid is going to be legen-wait for it-dary. Legendary.” Barney said, a small smile crinkling the corner of his lips. “And he’s going to learn all the right moves to bag a foxy lady too.”
Robin chuckled. “And if it’s a girl?”
“I’m locking her up in her bedroom until she’s 50.”
“No you’re not,” Robin insisted. “Our daughter’s going to be hot as all hell. You can’t keep a woman like that out of the world.”
Barney casually placed his hand on top of her stomach. “We’ll see, Scherbatzky. I’ll bet you 10 bucks we have a boy.”
“You’re on, Stinson.”
"Oh and Robin...I expect banging rights until at least your third trimester."
Robin rolled her eyes and shook his hand, sealing the deal. Barney and Robin were going to be parents. And the world wouldn't know what hit them.
