Nov. 11th, 2008 05:08 pmReposting old stuff, sorry for the flist flood....
Title: Grace
Author: snogged
Pairing: Spike/Willow, minor Willow/Tara
Rating/Warnings: PG, angst
Setting: Season 5; Spike is hanging out with the Scoobies
Disclaimer: Joss Whedon and other large corporations own the characters and I don’t. The title of this piece is based on the inspiration for this piece: “Grace” by Kate Havenik. I highly recommend the song. It's beautiful.
Prompt: Love In Strange Places/Warm
A/N: Hopefully, this is a strange enough place.
“I’m gonna get a snack from the vending machine. Anyone want anything?” Willow rose from the chair in the hospital lobby and chewed on her bottom lip. It seemed like the easy excuse for her to get away for a few moments. It was bad enough that Buffy’s mom was in the hospital, she didn’t want to burden them with this too.
When no one answered her, she walked down the hospital hallway and found an empty room. She crashed to her knees, letting the warm tears soak her cheeks. Tara had broken up with her a mere hours before Joyce got admitted into the hospital. It wasn’t fair and it didn’t make sense. Every time she found love it always seemed to slip through her fingers.
“You all right, pet?” The voice was soft and unexpected.
Willow looked up to see Spike standing in the doorway. He had genuine look of concern on his face which was a bit surprising.
“I…” Willow’s voice broke. Spike knelt beside her and pulled her into his arms, wrapping his duster around her shoulders. Willow continued to sob into the vampire’s chest. “She left me.” The words were barely above a whisper. “It hurts so bad. I want to believe she’s coming back. That this is just a horrible dream and I’ll wake up and there she’ll be.”
Spike stroked her hair and kissed the top of her head. “I know, pet.”
Willow lifted her head and looked into his eyes, wiping the tears from her cheeks. She looked into his blue eyes and saw softness and compassion. It was odd to believe that Spike would be the one comforting her in an empty hospital room.
Spike leaned down and kissed her gently on the lips. It was startling at first but she let herself sink into it. Spike pulled away and looked into her eyes. “Red, anyone stupid enough to break your heart doesn’t deserve you.”
Willow rested her head against the vampire’s chest. In this moment, his presence and his embrace was the only thing keeping her from falling apart. She couldn’t ask for anything more.
