Mr. Bottoms: Is that blood on your zombie?
Timmy Robinson: It was a nose bleed.
Mr. Bottoms: That's not a fresh zombie, only fresh zombies bleed, son.
Timmy Robinson: I meant my nose.
Mr. Bottoms: How did blood from your nose get onto your zombie?
Timmy Robinson: I wiped it there.

For the most part, I had a good weekend so as you click on the cut, I'd like to point out that I'm gonna talk about all the nice stuff first and the fandom rant comes at the end.

Warning: Annoying People Rant Ahead.

So the internet in my apartment is currently down and to keep myself from going crazy, I headed down to the campus library to check LJ and Gmail and things.

It occurs to me why I like my internet at home so much.

Because it does not feature an annoying boy sitting next to me with headphones who has the most obnoxious laugh in the entire world. It makes me wince and cringe each time he does it. And he mumurs to himself about whatever it is that he's watching, which is also ticking me off.

Gah!

I need to get out of here, dudes!

And I want my own damn internet to be working when I get home today.

ETA: I'm back home and my internet is back on. And the only sound I hear is NPH reading off the Top Ten List for Letterman. It's lovely :)

OMG!

My neighbor is singing.

And I can hear it through the paper thin walls

And it's bad!! Really bad. It's trying to be Bollywood but it so fails.

Honestly, it's kinda creeping me out.

I want him to stop now.

I want to thank each and every one of you who offered me support in my last post. I can't begin to tell you how much it meant to me and I took each one of your words to heart.

Unfornunately, the individual cancelled the appointment and rescheduled for another time with a different counselor so at this point I am back to square 1 and don't have any individual clients to see. I'm crossing my fingers that my luck will come next week.

I do get to run a group on Tuesday afternoon though with a co-facilitator and I'm pretty stoked about that :)

I ended up having quite an eventful day that I will admit left me feeling pretty tired.

A little bit of history...before today, my last phone conversation with my boyfriend was on Wednesday. It's not entirely strange for us to go three days without a phone conversation but it's certainly not my favorite thing, especially when I kept calling him and he never answered :( Keep in mind though, Nick isn't a phone person. It wasn't till he started dating me that he was even willing to pick up a telephone at all (according to him and his dad).

Anywho, I got an epiphany after a little libation on Saturday night and wanted to drive up to Portage and surprise him. My friends convinced me to wait till morning so I did. I woke up around 9 AM, got in my car, and headed out.

The drive was decent and I swear that 100% of the stoplights I went through were green so I figured it had to be a good sign. Or at least, I thought it was until I got to Nick's apartment and there was no blue neon out front. I used my spare key and opened the door to an empty apartment and I felt like I had wasted a whole lot of time.

But then, I called my friend Becca who was back in Lodi from grad school. Lodi is about 20 minutes away and on my way back to WW. We hung out the rest of the day, chatting, and giggling, and telling dirty jokes with her sister Emily and Emily's friend Ryan.

Nick called me about an hour or so after I got to Lodi and I found out he had been in Madison because some of his friends had asked him to come visit (hence why he didn't answer the phone last night).

I encouraged him to come to Lodi and he did, which made up for missing my calls. We had a great couple of hours with Becca and her family. And I got super, swell kisses out of it.

Plus I get to see him Wednesday night because we're eating Thanksgiving dinner at his dad's house.

And now it's time for me to pass out.

Night folks!

I'm cold...I'm getting over bronchitis...

And I have to write a stinkin' paper tonight.

*grumble*

I'm so not interested in doing it even though I'm working on it right now and it will be done before I go to bed.

*sigh*

Tell me again why I need to be an overachiever?

ETA: Paper's finished :)

I probably don't do these as much as I should considering the stress and frustration levels of being a grad student should really equate nicely to the personal venting space that is a journal.

Honestly, though, I like the aspect of LJ where I post my fanfiction and my artwork. My involvement in fandom is how I relax and de-stress from the grad school stuff.

But just in case you wanted to know...this week has been particularly stressful on the grad school front because it's midterm time!

For my Ethics class, I need to:
-complete my Take-Home Exam for Monday 10/13 (which consists of about 40 multiple choice and 4 essays)
- write my consultation paper (5 pages) with my partner, Tim by Monday 10/20
- Read Ch. 1 and 2 of the Doughterty text (which is at least 50 pages because it's a textbook and they always like being extra wordy)

For my Techniques of Research class, I need to:
- not maim my professor (this woman shouldn't be allowed to work with students. period. But I'll save that for an extra special rant)
- fill out my pointless worksheet (I feel like I'm in high school again)
- track down more literature about substance abuse treatment for women so that I can write my rough draft literature review.

For my Marriage and Family class, I have:
- chapters to read in two of our textbooks (at least 25 pages a piece for however many there are)
- keep reading the Family Crucible (which is awesome and interesting)
- and prepare for our midterm on 10/16 by completing the study guide

I think that sums it up okay.

What I know is that my social life is going to be intensely limited for the next two weeks.

But I can do this...and I'm going to be awesome at it.

I have a few things that I need to mention now that Faire season is so close by.

First, I will NOT be there Opening Day (the 5th) but I will be there on Sunday (the 6th).

Second, it is 99.9% certainty that I will not be at Faire for the rest of July. Grad school summer classes do not adhere to the idea that students have social lives. Because of this, I am forced to complete all of my assignments. Right now, my career path is my priority. I love you all and I will miss you but tests, papers, and chapter readings come first.

Third, I will NOT be at Faire the first two weekends in August (2nd and 3rd) and (9th and 10th). I am going on vacation with Nick's family in Minocqua.

The 16th and 17th and 23rd and 24th remain up in the air. I can't make any promises.

I promise that I have good news: I will be there for the ENTIRETY of Closing Weekend (including Labor Day).

The rest of this entry is more for Damien's benefit but I'll let the rest of you know too.

~ I do NOT go to Jack's after Faire. While I appreciate the awesomeness that is hanging out with friends, I do not like the feelings of claustrophobia. I much prefer grabbing a Strawberry Banana smoothie from Culver's and going home to take a shower and relax. I think it's the introvert in me.

~ My plan is to stay at Loki's from Saturday night to Sunday unless something changes. Loki's house is full so you will have to find another place to sleep.

That's it for now.

Today marks the one year anniversary of my undergraduate professor's death. One year ago today a great and orginal woman lost her life because someone decided to get on the freeway in the middle of the afternoon under the influence of drugs and alcohol.

In her honor, I wrote a poem. There are references to God and Christianity so if that bothers you, I don't expect you to read it.

One quick thing before the poem: At 6:30 PM CST, people are invited to light a candle in remembrance. I don't expect any one on my flist to do that but it would still mean a lot to me if you were able to find the time to do it.
