I want to thank [livejournal.com profile] shakensilence for the very funny Christmas card that I received this weekend. *hugs*

In other news, my weekend was a blast. :D

+ Saturday morning, my family and I hopped on the tour bus around 9:30 (as White Christmas was an adventure put together by the tour office of the radio station my dad works for.) We hit up the Golden Corral for lunch, which was okay. I'm not really the biggest fan of buffets, actually (unless they feature Chinese food). I definitely enjoyed the okra and the skillet cornbread though. Nom. Nom. Nom.
From there, we headed to the theater and located our seats (which were in the balcony.) Although we were in the nosebleed section, I didn't have any trouble seeing the stage or the actors so I'd call that a win. There were definitely changes from the original film (such as the lack of Bing Crosby. *g*), but they weren't upsetting changes. With the exception of the fact that they didn't do the: "I Wish I Was Back In The Army" number. I will say the youngest cast member (I wager she was about 12) more than made up for it by selling the hell out of one of the new songs.

+Today, Nick and I went over to his mom's for Christmas and were joined by Nick's sister Julia and her three-month old daughter, Della. Sadly, Julia's husband couldn't make it but that's because he had to go up to Canada to get training on a new machine that his workplace will be bringing in.
I must say I got a very nice haul. Julia bought me a 14 piece Pyrex bake-ware set and gave Nick and I a set of ornaments made from recycled materials. Marty gave me a cute basket, a small plate shaped like an apple, and a journal with a mesmerizing black and silver cover. I also got a present from Nick's aunt Jane (who lives in Missouri so she mailed it up to Marty's house). It's this totally adorable dragonfly finger puppet that appears to be hand-made.

All in all, I'd call this weekend a good one. :)

I had one of those rare weekends where I didn't have to drive anywhere specific and I was ever so grateful for the chance to just chill in the apartment with my boy.

It also helped that Nick and I were celebrating seven years together and we did so by eating steak dinners at Applebee's and seeing the film, Unstoppable. I was fairly impressed by it and was happy to see Ethan Suplee get a fairly serious role for once (For those who don't know, Ethan played the "Sailboat" guy in Mallrats and also played Earl's brother on My Name is Earl.) Plus, Rosario Dawson is in it and I think she's positively gorgeous.

Other things I did this weekend:
* Watched The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. I was a bit bored during the first hour, but I got into it soon after that. Makes me think I'll read the book after all.
* Caught up on Lie to Me, Community, Vampire Diaries, Grey's Anatomy, and Raising Hope.
* Watched some Buffy Season 5 as research for my Which Witch fic.
* Typed up a writing sample of how I write case notes, which I need to submit to the psychologist who interviewed me to prove that I can write. (Apparently, they hired a girl once who couldn't write case notes. Head...Meet Desk.)
* Whipped up a Hamburger Pot Pie recipe I got off Betty Crocker and am now enjoying the leftovers for lunch.

All in all...good times, my friends, good times.

I had a fairly interesting weekend.

For starters, I was able to knock out the entire 13 episode season of Kitchen Confidential (the sitcom Nicholas Brendon joined shortly after Buffy ended.) It's a bit bumming that FOX canceled the show as I found it incredibly funny and the cast was great (Bradley Cooper, John Cho, and John Francis Doyle were all stars.) I think I'm going to pick up the autobiography it was based off of though. I imagine its quite entertaining if the show is an accurate reflection of it.

On Saturday, I went out for dinner with my family to celebrate my sister Katie's 29th birthday. I had this delicious wild mushroom and herb ravioli topped with alfredo sauce. It was heavenly. :D
After dinner, we watched (500) Days Of Summer. I found it cute and quirky and look forward to watching it again.

On Sunday, daylight savings time robbed me of an hour of sleep but I made up for a little by sleeping in until 11:15. I feel pretty happy about my productivity as I was able to read a chapter for the Theories class and wrote the first draft of Mission X Chapter 7. I also got my dishes done and bought these yummy little ice cream cookie sandwiches from the store.

That's it from me for now.

Later gators.

I figure I don't write enough blogs and I also don't write enough lists (because I like lists, unless they're to-do lists because I don't care much for those.) So I'm gonna do that and I hope it works out well.

&hearts On my drive to internship on Friday, I discovered that the movie store I pass along the way was going out of business and everything must go. Naturally, I made the decision to stop back there on my way home and walked out the door with 8 movies, which I purchased for about $4 a piece. Two of those movies are going to my dad though because he asked me to pick them up for him (Hostel and Hostel II). Another two were given as presents to my boyfriend 'cause I love him (Geisha Assassin and Trick R'Treat). The remaining four belong to me and they are Ninja Cheerleaders, Charlie Bartlett, (500)Days of Summer, and Phoebe in Wonderland.

&hearts Nick came to visit on Friday and was very excited about his gifts (see above). He was so excited, in fact, that we went and got Japanese food. LOL. Just kidding. We were gonna do that anyways :P

&hearts On Saturday, we had our date day/night. We went to see Alice in Wonderland in 3-D. I really do with they'd called it Alice RETURNS to Wonderland but it's too late to put in that request now. Anyways, Nick and I were both pretty happy about it and Nick's a huge Lewis Carroll purist. He still thinks there needs to be live-action films that follow the stories in the books though and he'll wait patiently until Hollywood gives him that.

&hearts We ate Seafood Portofino at Olive Garden and it was amazing!

&hearts Today, we went over to Goodwill and I ended up buying the original Trivial Pursuit game. We were quite amused when the question "What did Otto Titzling invent?" came up (I'll give you a hint: it's really obvious.) But according to wikipedia, Otto is actually a fictional character, which is sad.

&hearts In other news, I have a test coming up on Wednesday that I need to start studying for. *sigh* At least, it's multiple choice!

Mr. Bottoms: Is that blood on your zombie?
Timmy Robinson: It was a nose bleed.
Mr. Bottoms: That's not a fresh zombie, only fresh zombies bleed, son.
Timmy Robinson: I meant my nose.
Mr. Bottoms: How did blood from your nose get onto your zombie?
Timmy Robinson: I wiped it there.

For the most part, I had a good weekend so as you click on the cut, I'd like to point out that I'm gonna talk about all the nice stuff first and the fandom rant comes at the end.
