My 20's were fantastic.

I can't wait to see what happens in my '30's. :)

So in the words of Lily Aldrin:

My delightful fiance surprised me this evening by getting home from work before I did (which never happens.) This meant we were able to get an earlier start on dinner. He took me to Northshore, which is a restaurant that's attached to the Portage Country Club. It also has a beautiful view of Swan Lake. Since it's Friday night in Wisconsin, we both had fish.

I tried the breaded walleye with a chive hollandaise sauce. It came with coleslaw, a side salad, and bread. I also had my choice of potato. I went with potato pancakes and they were some of the best I've ever head. Nick had the beer-battered bluegill and as an extra surprise, ordered the deep fried turtle cheesecake for dessert.

When we got home, Nick had one more surprise for me. A Blue-Ray copy of one of my favorite movies: Mallrats. It came with the theatrical version and the extended version that has 25 minutes of extra footage. We watched the theatrical version tonight and it just made me grin from ear to ear. I know it's raunchy and wrong, but it's oh-so-freaking hilarious.

First of all, thank you to everyone who wished me a happy birthday. The Happy Birthday wishes, the Riley/Willow fic, the Spike/Willow artwork, and V-Gift wishes absolutely brought a smile to my face and joy to my heart.

Now onto the day's recap.

I headed to work as per usual and my co-worker presented me with a bar of extra dark chocolate and she gave me a choice to pick one out of three necklaces that her dad makes. I will definitely post a picture of my choice before the end of the weekend, but I need some natural light to accomplish that. :)

At lunch, my co-worker convinced me to go get ice cream at McDonald's. She asked the cashier if I could get a free cone since it was birthday, but they said no. Instead, I ordered a snack-size McFlurry. The cashier apparently thought I had said small so she charged me more and didn't realize it until my co-worker ordered a snack-size too. The manager came out and refunded me the difference and then said I could keep the small.

After work, I went to a cooking class. We learned how to make three different salad dressings - Blue Cheese, Italian Vinaigrette, and French. We also learned how to make a few different sandwich spreads, namely chicken salad, herb cream cheese spread, and garbanzo bean spread. We ate our samples on home-made sourdough and five-seed bread with various combinations of yummy vegetables (avocado, tomato, marinated carrots, bean sprouts, leaf lettuce.) Krista (the instructor) topped off the evening by setting a plate of brownies in front of me with a candle stuck inside one. The whole class sang Happy Birthday. It was too cool. :)

When I got home, Nick gave me my present. We've been watching this anime called Sgt. Frog on Netflix that I'm totally into. So for my present I got framed postage stamps that feature my two favorite characters (Sgt. Frog and Tamama).

Not the best picture, but this is the stamp of Tamama. :)

My birthday celebrations will actually be continuing for the next two days as I took Friday off to treat myself to a hot-stone massage (I got the coupon off of Groupon) and then Nick and I are getting sushi for dinner. Then, on Saturday, I'm going out with my family to the Mineshaft , which is Wisconsin's largest restaurant and game room and it's right in my hometown. I already know what I'm getting for dinner that night. Stuffed Shrimp, all the way! Nom nom nom.

I recognize that since I'm behind on the 30 day meme that I could play catch-up and knock off several days, but I'm choosing not to mostly on account of sheer laziness. I've had a busy, but relaxing, Memorial Day Weekend and I intend to keep up with the latter half of that now that Nick and I are home from my parents' house.

In terms of a weekend recap, we drove down to Mom and Dad's on Saturday. Mom made a beef roast and mashed potatoes for dinner and then topped it off with my birthday treat: Peach Upside-Down Cake. :D I got birthday presents from my sisters, since they were unable to join us for my birthday dinner. Katie gave me two foaming hand soaps, one Wallflower, and a candle from Bath and Body Works. All of which were in the scent: Peach Bellini. AH-MAZE-ING! My sister Mary got me a French Press coffee maker. I'm very excited to try that out. Saturday night, we all watched Easy A on Netflix Instant Streaming. It was my second time seeing it, but it was a first for everyone else. I think they liked it....

On Sunday, we had our annual Memorial Day picnic and spent the day eating burgers, brats, hot dogs, and ridiculously amazing desserts with our friends and family.

Today, Dad helped me take some pictures of our cat, Sirius Black, because I'm designing a photo book/children's book on Snapfish for my niece's birthday. Later tonight, Nick and I are going to watch more of The Wire Season Three.

Hope you all have a good Memorial Day!
