I'm totally hooked on the song "Longest Road to Nowhere (the DownTempo remix)" by Morgan Page right now. It's just freaking gorgeous. Another song I'm loving right now is "Something's Gotta Give" off of Christian Kane's new album.
Anyways, yesterday I had the day off from Power Packer so I could focus my energies on my phone interview and on my Wisconsin Early Autism Project (WEAP) face-to-face interview.
The phone interview was interesting and mostly felt like a conversation about theory and rural programs. It was with a woman I met at the counseling conference I went to back in November. I had some personal concerns about this one because it would require a move to Minnesota and I have no idea if licensure-type things would transfer. I brought these up with her after she mentioned not knowing if the possible supervisors they had at their clinic would be approved by the state of Wisconsin. So yeah, we both figured it probably wouldn't be the best fit, but that's okay. New contacts are new contacts and any interview experience is good experience.
The WEAP interview felt like it went well, but my suspicions were correct about the avaliability of a supervisor who could help me fulfill my 3000 hours of post-graduate supervision requirement (which is the major player in my job decisions these days. I don't want to take a counseling job without being able to accrue those pesky hours.) I did like that Wendy told me that a few of the qualities of success in the position were goofiness and at times, a child-like immaturity. I think my inner 12-year old would totally dig that.
But again, the hours issue and the longer commute put it in second place behind the real horse that Nick and I backing (the Pauquette Child/Adolescent Program, which by the way, follow-up interview this Friday at 9 AM. WOO!)
In other news, Power Packer is giving me the 20th-31st off, as there will be no work for me to do on account of the temps on the factory floor being off for the holidays. But I'm not looking at unemployment as I'll be back with them on Jan. 3rd. :D I'm glad they're at least keeping me around until Pauquette gives me their final decision come Mid-January.
