Good Kind Of Crazy
Feb. 22nd, 2015 08:30 pmIt's been a few weeks since I've done an update and I figured I was probably due for one.
For Valentine's Day weekend, I was part of a another Broadway jukebox cabaret. Last year, we put on Cabernet Cabaret. This year, we called it Merlot Melodies. I teamed up with my fave theater gal, Ashley, to co-create, co-direct, and co-produce. Our concept is essentially to create a love story told through Broadway songs ranging from "Shrek" to "Newsies."
Each song has a singer, but they also feature our leads that silently (mostly) improv a scene in the story. It's a lot of fun and we had a really great cast. I had a chance to sing "Grow Old With You" from The Wedding Singer. That song is one of my favorites and when my husband said I sounded better than Adam Sandler, I was quite pleased.
Outside of that production, I've been busy with work and Zumba. I tried out a recipe, Ranch Cheddar Chicken and I was happy with how it turned out. I'm sure my husband thought it was a nice change since I usually make him do the cooking. :P
On Friday night this weekend, went to see Fifty Shades of Grey with a co-worker and a few other gal pals. I enjoyed Dakota Johnson's performance and there were some other good scenes as well. It was not a great movie by any means. I'd probably give it a C-, but I did think they handled a few things better than the book did. I know that many of you expressed your opposition to the film and I can see where you're coming from, but I am glad I went. My husband is glad I went too. ;P
Yesterday, Nick and I went to a wedding for an old college friend of mine. We had more fun than we anticipated and I'm really glad we went. My favorite part was the huge group dance for "Time Warp." My least favorite part was the fact that the DJ tried to fog us all right off the dance floor.
Today, I've been lazy. I've caught up on some shows (How To Get A Way With Murder, Big Bang Theory, Vampire Diaries, and Glee.
Hope you all had good weekends as well!
