Day Five: Favorite female character on a male-driven show




Penny (The Big Bang Theory)

What better choice for today then the only female regular character in a cast of five?

Penny is funny, sassy, sexy, and can hold her own against Leonard, Raj, Howard, and Sheldon. While she may be the most "normal" of the bunch, I have to say my favorite moments with her is when she gets in touch with her inner nerd. Favorite examples of this include: beating Sheldon at Halo 3 ("No one can be that hot and be that skilled at a video game."), playing Age of Conan, and quoting Star Trek to the upstairs neighbor who tried to screw up their dynamic. I'm also a huge fan of the "Soft Kitty" gag that's been present on the show for the last few seasons.

Amber Benson guest starred last night!! She was fabulous and I was beaming every moment her (probably one-off) character appeared.


Tomorrow, I'm going to the Wisconsin Counseling Association Summit (which is basically a fancy word for conference). I'm definitely looking forward to getting the chance to hear more about issues in my chosen field, along with getting the opportunity to network and meet new people. Who knows maybe I'll find someone who wants to hire me...because you know, a girl can dream, right?

The only bad part about it is that I have to wake up at 5:30 am. That's a half hour earlier than normal and I have to do it on a Saturday.

*sigh*

I'm pretty positive that coffee consumption will be critical.

Oooh, have fun at the conference! Definitely network your heart out, and I hope it leads to something... whether it's a job or some nice connections. It's nice to be able to re-connect with the field and learn about new information on best practices!

Well, I've already been in contact with the president of the WCA and I'm hoping to get involved in their political platforms.

Plus, one of my former professors is on the docket to do a presentation so I'm going to do my best to get to that one.

Nope. It's just a one day affair hence the waking up early. I have to drive an hour and a half to get there from my apartment.
