I went to a Zumbathon last night for the Pink Ribbon Angels, a charity that provides breast cancer patients in the local area with out-of-pocket funding they need to cover medical expenses. The event raised over $900 on tickets and raffle prizes alone and we had a great time sweating, shimmying, and partying on for a cause. I also won a raffle prize and it was awesome. It has a bottle of homemade blueberry wine, two pink-and-white painted wine glasses, a $10 gift certificate from the Chamber of Commerce to use at any local business, and a gift card for a free wine flight at the wine bar. :)

Today, I woke up and caught up on some TV. I watched Glee, Masterchef Junior, and Parks and Recreation. For the most part, Glee made me cry, but it didn't measure up to the powerhouse of emotion that I still feel whenever I watch "The Body" (BtVS). As for Masterchef Junior, I was super excited that Sara is still around. She's just the cutest thing and she's only 9!
Then, I went to an art class at the wine bar downtown. It's been at least 15 years since I've tried to paint anything, but when I saw that Paint 205 was offering a zombie photo, I knew I couldn't pass it up. I was glad that the instructor had actually drawn out the outline and we just had to worry about the painting part. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out actually.

I also got to enjoy some wine with my art. They had a raspberry wine from Fawn Creek that was lovely and since they only had one bottle left, I got the first glass for $4.00 and the second glass (and last drop) was on the house. :)
After my class, Nick and I went on a date. We decided to go to Murph's North Shore, which is a supper club that's only open when the golf course is (May-October.) I had a house salad, bacon-wrapped meatloaf, loaded mashed potatoes, and pretzel bread. It was positively heavenly!

on 2013-10-13 01:38 am (UTC)And totally agree about Sara, I love her. And Jack. They are amazing for their age (not sure I was even allowed to use those knives at that age let alone cook anywhere near what they're doing).
And now I need to go make the big bully cat move so the dog can get in the kitchen to get a drink of water....

on 2013-10-13 01:40 am (UTC)Sara and Jack are so fabulous. I like Alexander too, and admit that he's talented, but I wouldn't mind seeing him slip up a little bit.
Good luck making the bully cat move!

on 2013-10-13 01:53 am (UTC)I like Alexander, but I think I root more for the other two because they're so young. The older they are the easier it is for them, they're still amazing for their age, but at 9 and 10 most kids are barely learning to a grilled cheese for themselves and these kids are making things that look like it came out of a restaurant.

on 2013-10-13 02:17 am (UTC)Glee had me crying from the opening notes of "Seasons of Love". But it was mostly because you could tell the actors weren't faking those tears.
I dig the painting.
Yay for date night!

on 2013-10-13 07:05 pm (UTC)I know! The emotion was definitely there, especially with the cast members who truly knew Cory Monteith.
Date night rocks.
