The Midwest "snow-mageddon", as [livejournal.com profile] hisui_ryoshi so aptly put it, is currently preventing me from driving home from my parents' house.

The blowing winds, drifting snow, and cold temperatures certainly don't make me want to head out onto the roads to risk life and limb (See, I'm all about safety first.) Plus, I already took Monday off so I don't even have to go work tomorrow- because I'm going to interview for an Autism place in Madison.

(By the way,I'm way less excited about that one now that I know they can't give me the supervision hours I need, but I figure the interview experience is still worth the trip.)

Still, I can't shake the feeling that I'd rather be at home with my boy, watching the Community holiday special, with a cup of warm cocoa.

*sigh*

ETA: Things cleared up a bit so I got the go ahead from my dad to venture out. It took me about 45 minutes longer than normal to get home, but I made it and I'm safe.

You? We got roughly 16" & are now under a wind chill advisory....where are you at today?

Well, I was in Hartford, WI (40 miles north of Milwaukee), but now I'm in Portage.

I'd guesstimate we have drifts with at least that much, but solid accumulation is more like 8-10.

I am too and we haven't even had the first official day of winter yet.
Spring can show up anytime now.

Still, even if the job isn't the perfect fit, the interview is worth your while.

Stay safe... stay warm... and any interview experience is good.

Sorry you can't be with your honey.

I know.

*hugs*
I ended up making it home. Took me about two hours and I slid once or twice, but I'm safe and comfy.

I'm glad you got home safely!

This is the time of year when those of us in California like to feel incredibly smug. I spent today in Berkeley with friends. We sat outside for an hour (without jackets on) and chatted. :-)

Be as smug as you want.
At least I know how to drive through it.

Yep. People here panic at the sight of a raindrop. Snow would cause them aneurysms.

I'm in Ohio and we got hit with 6ish inches today. The roads are ridiculous. Didn't the city kinda have a heads up warning to the snow storm? The roads are unsalted and they're just attempting to plow but the bottom layer is pretty much just ice.

The roads are definitely crummy.
I think, though, that a lot of snow removal budgets got cut this year...which is way lame.

Glad you made it home safely. They were showing the snow and how bad it was, on the news here in Australia tonight. I'd hate to try and drive in that.

Driving in it is no fun.
But I can do it when necessary.

I hate cold weather. Yes... safety definitely comes first in these situations.
