Before I answer the meme question for the day, I need to take a moment to rap about the other things in my life (though now that I think about it...I probably can't rap. I bet it would be painful. Bonus points to whoever catches the reference.)
FIRST: Law Office
I'm really enjoying my time here, even though I've only put in about a day and a half. It's a friendly environment and while the phone has been ringing non-stop today, it's been a learning experience that I'm glad was offered to me. That's not to say I'm not ready to leap at the chance to take a job in my field, but that really goes without saying.
SECOND: Autism Project
Unfornunately, I need to vent about these folks. I'm sure it's through no fault of their own, but I feel like they were unprepared for me. My first kiddo graduated from the program back on May 10th. The soonest HR could quote me on getting another kiddo was June 24th. Naturally, I couldn't afford to wait that long between clients so I launched my persistence rockets (the ones the Pauquette Center staff already know well) and kept sending emails and phone calls to HR. After three weeks of waiting, the HR department got back to me with a new assignment...that completely conflicts with the law firm. It's six hours a week and the two hour shifts are all over the board. As much as I love the work and as much as I understand that I'm still trying to accumulate my initial 30 hours of training, giving up a 40 hour/week temp job at this stage is just not feasible for me. Not only are there bills to pay and groceries to buy, but I also have a very important trip coming up that I need some fun money for.
THIRD: Des Moines
The hotel rooms have been booked, which means that on June 18th, I will be meeting
sionnach_ayame, her friend, and
secondmezzanine. I'm ridiculously excited about this. It's going to be awesomazing.
FOURTH: State of Wisconsin - Department of Vocational Rehabilitation
I have a second shot at the elusive state counseling position. The scheduled date for that is June 22nd at 11:30. Part of me is hoping that I'll have signed paperwork with either Compass or Pauquette (or maybe both!) because the work offered by those agencies is more appealing to me vs. career counseling work, which I'm only semi-interested in. I knew if I didn't sign up though, it would be the equivalent of shooting myself in the foot. Plus, the benefits, pension, and salary are boss...even with all of Governor Walker's attacks on public employees.
FIFTH: Writing
With everything that's been going on, I feel like I've pushed my writing, including my WIP's, onto the back burner. Right now, I think this is what I need to do. I will promise that I will not forget about SDS nor will I forget my promise to
angelus2hot (she wants a "Freedom Isn't Free" sequel). All these things will happen in time.
Given that I already chose AVPM as my answer to Day 1 of this meme, I find this question a little redundant (and I'm sure others before me have experienced this too.) I can assure you that within the span of 14 days (give or take), I have not changed my mind. My love will always be for the show I saw first.
I will admit that AVPS has some ridiculously catchy songs, it's more polished, and has some seriously funny bits of dialogue, but it put Draco Malfoy and Luna Lovegood in diapers. I don't care if Lauren Lopez played that aspect up with exaggerated flair. It bugged the crap out of me. I also prefer Voldemort to Umbridge.
