Snogged: An Insatiable State of Mind

Today was the very first day that I was able to comment on entries and I can safely say I've caught up with most of the entries I've missed (since some of you were lucky duck enough to get on LJ a lot more than I did this week.) I did have to bookmark the fanfic posted though and will go back to reading it when I have the time.

And now for some updates in bullet-point form:

1. On Monday, I used the biggest paper shredder I've ever seen. Damn thing took up the whole room and you fed the paper into it via a conveyor belt.
Appearances can be deceiving aka this picture is TINY but it shows you what the thing looked like .
Cleaning it up after a bag filled was the worst. There was so much paper dust and I could feel it irritating my lungs with every breath. Boo.

2. I had my last day at the internet-less temp. job on Tuesday. It went pretty well. I finished up all the tasks for the HR department with an hour to spare so they sent me down to the accounting department to help them box up some files. Fun. Fun. (But not the kind of fun you have on Friday when you're looking forward to the weekend. :P)

3. I finished Bossypants by Tina Fey and freaking loved it!

4. I'm one disc away from finishing Boy Meets World Season 4. I really hope I can finish the series (Seasons 5 and 6) by August 31st so that way I'll have seen them all before Netflix ups their prices.

5. Nick is heading up to Lake Minocqua on Saturday for a week-long vacation with his family. Normally, I get to go too, but given the limited hours I work I figured it would be better for me to stay behind. :/ It'll be weird having the house to myself for a week, but I'm sure I'll manage.

Before I answer the meme question for the day, I need to take a moment to rap about the other things in my life (though now that I think about it...I probably can't rap. I bet it would be painful. Bonus points to whoever catches the reference.)

I started the temp. job today. Other than my orientation, things have been glacially slow. I'm not allowed to read a book at the desk so I guess internet browsing will be the thing.

Well, that or reading huge booklets on bankruptcy law...hmmm....

The one part that annoys me a little is that I don't have access to my gmail account because the Law Office server utilizes gmail. If you want to chat with me though, I'm happy to pm you my alumni email address.

First things first, I scored the temp job at the law firm so I start that tomorrow. I'm positively looking forward to this. I'm also looking forward to my Thursday evening which will be spent with my good friend, Sabrina, watching the So You Think You Can Dance premiere.

Second things second, I had the interview with Northstar today for the adolescent day treatment program. I'm glad I interviewed with them, but at the same time, they're currently in last place (even below the state who hasn't called me to schedule an interview yet). Here's why: they would only hire me on for 6 hours a week, despite the fact that their program is 22 hours a week. Four of those hours would be spent working with the kids and two would be spent in supervision. I would drive the hour there for 22, but not for 6.

Also, the interviewer made me feel guilty because I graduated a year ago. He kept asking me: "What are you doing?" "What are you doing?" I had to explain to him twice that it had been a tough road and I was keeping myself occupied and on top of my game by volunteering my time with Teen Court and working for the Autism Project and for Qualitemps. For a guy who kept insisting his program was dynamic and feelings-oriented, he didn't really seem to have a clue about how I was feeling.

Third things third, I'm going out for a belated birthday dinner with my folks tonight. YAY!

1. The temp agency I applied finally came through for me this week. I will be filling in as a receptionist for Power Packer (a factory that specializes in hydraulics) from July 5th to July 9th as their regular receptionist is going on vacation. I have to go in for training tomorrow so hopefully that goes well.

2. I finished Catcher in the Rye this afternoon. ( Not impressed. )

3. I've watched two episodes of The Vampire Diaries. It's no Buffy, of course, but I like it way more than Twilight.
