I had a craving for fish after work today so I made a point to go over to the Wal-Mart Super-Center (not my first choice, but it is closest to my work and there are only two grocery stores in my town.) I picked up a box of garlic and herb crusted fillets, a nut mix, and spinach and feta pierogies (I had coupons for those last two.)

Anywho, the fun part about this story is that while I was in the check-out line, I heard someone say "BOO!" I looked down and there was one of the five year boys I worked with during my Autism Project days. He smiled at me and told me he got a new haircut. Then, he gave me a high five.

It made my night I tell you!

In work news, I didn't have a single client today (for the first time since December) and it was quite nice to have those extra hours to get paperwork done. If there's one thing that kinda irks me about my job, it's all the paperwork I have to stay on top of. But I'm doing my best to keep up with it and that's what matters to me. Tomorrow, I only have 1 client and then I have our team meeting in the afternoon. Thursday, I have the all-DVR-staff meeting and no clients. Friday, I just have one client. I hope this means I'm going to get a lot of that paper pushed!!

I woke up with this morning with a voice no louder than a squeaky whisper, which has put me into debate mode since I'm supposed to see a kid this afternoon for the Autism Project for 2 hours and I'm also supposed to be training one of our new team members. I know I should probably take the time off, but then I would either have to ask another team member to fill in for me or find time to fit in another shift. It's not very likely that I can find someone to step in for me, given that there are only two other members on the team and they already have shifts today (and we can't work longer than 2 hours.) The other problem is that I don't have availability for any of the other slots that are in this kiddo's schedule because I'm either already working that day or it conflicts with the other kid I see for the Autism Project/conflicts with the time at the Pauquette Center.

*sigh*

I think I'm just going to do my best to muddle through and get the work done.

In better news, my lovely friend [livejournal.com profile] dragonydreams is celebrating her birthday today and in her honor, I thought I'd share a silly comic.

I work two shifts for the Autism Project today. One from 9-12 with a lower functioning kid and a co-therapist (because I'm in training) and one from 1-4 who's higher functioning, but hasn't had to have therapy since Tuesday because he was out of town the last few days. Traditionally, this equates to a rougher session, but I'm crossing my fingers that things work out.

I'm also hoping the day goes fast. I woke up feeling like a zombie and my tummy is feeling a bit more squishy than I'd like it to be, but not squishy enough that I could justify calling in to a work environment where I'd have no PTO to lean back on.

Just got a call from my Autism Project kiddo's dad. An emergency came up with the family's horse so they had to cancel. I'm sad for them, but also grateful to have the day off, especially because I have the house to myself for a few hours (Nick went to Summerfest in Milwaukee with a few of his guy pals last night and crashed at Kit's.)

I'm still not sure what I'm going to do yet (other than catch up with my flist and maybe watch this week's So You Think You Can Dance episodes.) But what I do know is that right at this moment, I'm going to tackle the meme.

I do need to jump back in time quick as I realized I missed Day 10 and I find myself wanting to answer it.

10 – Pairings – Have you ever gone outside your comfort zone and written a pairing you liked, but found you couldn't write, or a pairing you didn't like, and found you could?

I've gone outside my comfort zone many times in order to explore rare pairings or take on challenges offered by friends of mine whenever I put out drabble calls. One pairing that I adore is Willow/Oz. [livejournal.com profile] rileysaplank challenged me to write a drabble featuring that pairing and I found myself struggling with it. I inevitably wrote it from Willow's POV and Oz had barely any dialogue. I do love that drabble though. It's one I'm quite proud of because I really had to work extra hard to get it done. When Sleep Escapes Her .

As for a pairing I don't like, I'll say Willow/Kennedy because I absolutely hate that pairing and yet, I let Kennedy enter into my latest story. I can't say I treat Kennedy very nice, but I did try to capture a few good moments between her and Willow before I ended things for them.

Now we go back to our regularly scheduled programming.

14 – Ratings – how high are you comfortable with going? Have you ever written higher? If you're comfortable with NC-17, have you ever been shocked by finding that the story you're writing is G-rated instead?

I'm perfectly comfortable writing any rating. The highest I've ever written is FRAO/NC-17, though I'm not sure it goes any higher than that.... As for the final part of this, I have to say that I've been shocked like that before. There was a Carl/Wendy that I wrote with Mezz once that wound up being PG-13 instead of NC-17, despite our best efforts. Sometimes the smut muse just doesn't work the same way she used to.

15. – Warnings – What do you feel it most important to warn for, and what's the strangest thing you've warned for in a fic?

I once forgot to warn for something in a fic (the non-explicit sex scene between Willow/Angel in "Alpha Female") and I got yelled at by a reader who pointed out the scene was non-consensual. I corrected the mistake immediately and vowed to always warn. Admittedly, warning for "character death" sometimes sucks, especially if it's part of a plot twist, but I do it anyway. As for the strangest things I've warned for: sex with inanimate objects and tentacles top the list.

Before I answer the meme question for the day, I need to take a moment to rap about the other things in my life (though now that I think about it...I probably can't rap. I bet it would be painful. Bonus points to whoever catches the reference.)

This is a post in which I ramble. You have been warned. :D

BOYFRIEND: Nick's birthday (despite it actually being on Saturday) managed to encapsulate much of the weekend. It's His Party and He'll Do What He Wants To )

POLITICS: As some of you know, the political climate in Wisconsin is not a happy one. Since March, I've been volunteering my free time at the offices for the Committee to Recall Senator Luther Olsen. Yesterday, Luther Olsen became the THIRD Republican senator in this state to be recalled because we turned in our signatures to the Government Accountability Board (24,000+. We only needed 14,733.) I'm hoping that Fred Clark, the man set to challenge Olsen in the upcoming recall election, will need help with data entry. I'd love to say on board with this stuff. It excites me. :D

WEAP: The Wisconsin Early Autism Project continues to a fun experience for me. I'm hoping that I will get to add more hours to my work-load. 4-6 hours a week is just not enough, no matter how much fun the kiddo is.

BOOKS: At the start of April I completed my 15th book for the year (Water For Elephants and quickly managed to get through number 16 (Perfect Match by Jodi Picoult). I started Book #17 (Stolen: A Letter To My Captor) about a week or so ago. Ranty McRanterson )
