I have continued to be a presence on LJ, but I feel like I haven't been so good in the blogging department these last few weeks. So I would like to take this opportunity to give you an update on life and stuff.

Wedding

Nick and I spent the first weekend in December celebrating the nuptials of the beautiful [livejournal.com profile] secondmezzanine. The weather was a bit unseemly for December in the Midwest, i.e. it was 46 degrees Fahrenheit, but that it was such a beautiful day.

The wedding started at 5 pm and included readings like "How Falling In Love Is Like Owning A Dog" and "The Little Yellow Leaf." Her bridesmaids looked gorgeous in their red dresses and white fuzzy shoulder shrugs. Her flower girl looked adorable in her red cloak adorned with white faux fur. It was interesting introducing myself to her friends and family. It all worked out just fine though. I spent much of the night with a fabulous older lady named Krista. She was originally from Southern California, but was now part of the community theater circuit in Iowa. I introduced her to Rumchata and she seemed to love that. (Fun fact: Krista used to be married to Quantum Leap's Scott Bakula.)

I made new friends by asking the DJ to play "The Time Warp." Mezz earned brownie points from the DJ when she requested Robin Sparkles' "Let's Go To The Mall." I danced with the bride until our feet were sore. I enjoyed a drink from the awesome hot cocoa bar and had a damn good time.

This Weekend

Nick went gaming (Pathfinder) with his friend, Rick, on Friday night. I spent my Friday night with my friend, Lyndsey (Rick's wife) and her two kids. We checked out the Christmas lights in the park and I thought it was awesome that one display had a small green dragon leading a pack of reindeer. I read some Christmas books to the kids before heading back to my house. I curled up on the sofa and watched one of my favorite films: Love, Actually. I also finished book #59 this year ("Between the Lines" by Jodi Picoult and her daughter, Samantha Van Leer).

Yesterday, I watched about 4 episodes of Supernatural Season 7 while wrapping presents. I really enjoyed the James Marsters/Charisma Carpenter one. I also liked the episode with the guest appearance by Jewel Staite.

Today, I wrote the first draft of my Which Willow fic, wrote out holiday cards, and made dark chocolate peanut clusters. The rest of my day will be spent cleaning, writing up the notes from the community theater meeting, and going to Zumba. I also need to write something for Noel of Spike and fill my mod challenge over at Nekid Spike.

Hope you're all having a good weekend!

I can safely say with a satisfied grin that I've been writing today. :)
Chapter 13 of Self-Destruct Button has been drafted and will be going out to my betas shortly and I've written 500 words of Chapter 14 already.

The bitch muse (and a little free time) are back!

...For a little while, at least.

I went to my parent's house for Easter weekend (Thursday night - Sunday afternoon) and as such did NOT check LJ during that time. I will do my best to catch up with the entries that I missed, but if there's ANYTHING you posted that you think I need to read, please comment to this entry with a link.

Also, I'm seriously behind on my writing. I have a 500 word fic to write for femslash_minis, which I promised the mod I'd have done by Monday or Tuesday. I also need to put more effort into the next chapter of Self-Destruct Button as a beta project and politics swallowed up a lot of my free time last week (Love you, [livejournal.com profile] spiletta42!) My goal is to have that chapter finished and posted by the end of the week though as I don't want my readers to have to wait another week for an update.

Judges' comments were posted at the [livejournal.com profile] wicked_awards today and I was stunned to see the following said about Holding Her Own :

This author has shown her exceptional writing skills in the angst category. If you're a fan of Willow/Tara and even if you're not, you'll love this tale. Throw Angel in the mix and it's guaranteed to have you hanging on every word.

Those are the sorts of buzzwords that bring a surging and humbling joy to my heart and help motivate me as a writer for a truly amazing fandom.

Speaking of writing, 700 words written today for the next chapter of Self-Destruct Button. WOO!

Not much to update on this evening except for:

I fell a bit behind on my word count goals for my C2C Willow fic, but I am sitting at 2163/5000 words now so yay for that. I can safely say that I don't feel like I'm halfway though what I'm trying to accomplish though, but we'll see what happens. It's not like 5000 is my limit. That's just my minimum.

I've made an interesting discovery about myself and I especially want to apoloogize to [livejournal.com profile] rileysaplank for this because I'm still fully aware of the fact that I owe him a drabble.

It appears that I can't write Willow/Oz as a pairing and I don't know why.

I love Willow/Oz. I loved watching their romance unfold on Buffy and I hated it when he left. It broke my heart. They're one of those rare couples that snuck passed my unconventional radar and found a place in my favorite pairings list.

But when I sit down at the computer to write about him, something always happens. According to my tags list, I've only used the tag "pairing: Willow/Oz" twice. In one instance, Willow left Oz to save Angel from death ("How Willow Spent Her Christmas Morning") and in another, Oz was mudererd by Angelus.

I'm starting to think my subconscious doesn't want to challenge what they were on the show or that it doesn't know how to do the couple justice without effing something up.

*sigh*

Maybe I'm just weird or wired wrong.
